South Palm Resort Maldives

We went there for our daughter’s birthday. The staffs went above and beyond to make this special day into one of the beautiful memories that we could give to our daughter. The kids really enjoyed their time in this property.

This is potentially a nice resort.  However, as many other reviews have stated their all inclusive policy totally ruins your holiday plans.  We booked a water villa so we could sunbathe, read and snorkel with privacy.  This cost us much more than normal villas but it was what we wanted. All inclusive is, however, not all inclusive. Unfortunately you cannot get drinks in the room as the mini bar is not included.  It is chargeable.  So we need to dry off,  walk to the bar (10 mins walk or get a shuttle).  Have your drink, walk back, reapply suncream and them half an hour later repeat the process.  We are avid readers and want to sit with a book and a beer in the evening.  We cannot do this either. We can either read in our room in the evening or go to the bar or restaurant where it us too dark to read.   This issue has ruined our holiday.  At Oblu Experience in Maldives last year we could take drinks to the room and do as we pleased. The same at Sunrise Attitude I'm Mauritius.  Both of these were amazing. When we complained to the manager of South Palm he spoke to my wife but he was not remotely interested in resolving the issue just saying repeatedly it was their policy. Clearly, as many other reviewers have noted, this is an issue.  The hotel is no more than 15% full so they are clearly trying to get as much money from people as possible as it is pretty unlikely they are currently breaking even.  I expect the hotel will close down if its occupancy doesn't increase.  This won't happen given how many people are complaining about this. Other issues The steps to the sea on our villa have two broken steps so it hard to get out of the sea   The bannister and guard rail both wobble ferociously if you lean on them due to age and /or not being varnished.  Decking is also aged and causes splinters so you need footwear.  Thes are basic maintenence issues.  The villas are positioned so that, unfortunately, you get very little sun to sunbathe on the sun terrace. Don't be swayed by the free 'butler service'  either.  Its just delivering room service (which is expensive). There is a bar nearer to the villas.  However it is chargeable.  It is manned with staff and they are the only people you ever see in there.  Not once have I seen a guest drinking in there.  Clearly paying for drink on top of all inclusive is not what customers  are prepared to do and is a waste of the hotels resources. Watching the Euro 2024 final they very kindly put it on the big screen and advertised this to guests.  Brilliant we thought!  Unfortunately they stopped serving drink just as the match kicked off which infuriated everyone there. Positives The island is truly picturesque.  The rest of the staff are truly amazing and nothing is too much trouble. The food is tasty and quite varied (given how few guests there are).  The water villas have nice spacious rooms. The potential is there to make it a holiday haven if they were to listen to what so many customer

Amazing Holiday at South Palm Resort. Everything was amazing, from the large beach villa with outside shower and direct access to the beach from a private patio to the staff who were all amazing, shout out to Magic from the restaurant. All staff went above and beyond, from cooks to bar staff and cleaning staff they were all very very good and welcoming. Eamon from the water sports centre was also very good and knowledgeable. Would defiantly recommend and would like to come back.

Absolute amazing place, sea villas were beautiful. Staff were so friendly, can't do enough for you. Loved them all, got my few favourite ones. The water sports and excursions were something else, the guide was amazing. Missing it already and the staff. One to remember. Thanks guys

Wow ! What a beautiful island ! Amazing and attentive staff. Myself and my family have had the most amazing time and have made the most beautiful of memories. The water sports are a must, dolphin and shark excursions did not disappoint! Highly recommend this beautiful island. 🩵❤️

On arrival we were met with lovely smiling faces. and onto a cart to near the overwater villa to get checked in by Sibi our Butler for the week. What a lovely kind and very professional man he is. forever grateful for all he did for us. Our water bungalow was beautiful, very large bed that was very comfortable, and pillows were very fluffy. Bathroom was delightful with a lovely window to watch out for fish while we showered. Toiletry's were great for a hotel, I didn't need to use any of my shower gel , shampoo or conditioner as these were very good quality. and I'm a fussy beauty therapist and hairdresser. The views were breath taking form AM to PM. Sunshine on our terrace most of the day. The sea life under the bungalow's is in abundance. and shallow in the mornings. Go for a little walk to the small island. Spotlesly clean everywhere and our room serviced morning and evening. Nothing was to much trouble for them. Called for a buggy most days, that was always at the end of the pier after a short walk out of our room, either Sibi or Ally driving to take you to the bar, restaurant, water sport or spa. Both Ali and Sibi gave us great advice and Sibi would make all our trips and spa bookings. He never wrote a thing down he remember all our dates and times. A true professional. The restaurant is hot as are the views beautiful. My advice would be to take a rechargeable hand fan. The food had lots of choices, Pasta station freshly heated with lots of ingredient's you can choose at time of cooking. Curries Meats and lovely soups. What most impressed us was the salads in a special airconditioned room and amazing amount of salads to choose fro,. and the same for the desert room also air conditioned. Imran was our waiter and was fabulous always had a drink on the table. Bar had a great atmosphere with lovely staff here too. Entertainment every night . The crab race was so funny. Defiantly get involved with that. Amazing gardens, amazing staff, fabulous pool area and a great atmosphere. In all, the most fantastic holiday. The hotel the gardens the views the swimming and especially the staff including the spa girls. Thankyou so much for all your kindness , the laughs and utter professionalism.
